The Nursery

It has been a long process, but Sophia's nursery is coming along!  We fell in love with the Hayley bedding at Pottery Barn Kids and then started picking out our paint color.  We decided a pale yellow would look really good, so Scott and I put on our painters clothes and got to work!  We then had crown molding installed and the room was ready for her furniture.  I could not wait for my showers to get the bedding so I went ahead and bought it (Pottery Barn Kids already knows me too well-I'm in there almost every week!)  Everything was looking good, but the plain walls were driving me crazy.  We decided to use decals that matched her bedding to create wall art behind her crib.  Being the great team that we are, Scott drew the tree trunk on the wall, I painted it, and then we added branch decals to complete the look.  It turned out so much better than we expected and we hope Sophia enjoys looking at all our hard work.  Above the dresser/changing table we hung her name and three picture frames that will display pictures of Sophia.  Hanging letters may not seem like a difficult task, but it is! Especially when you spell her name Sohpia the first time.  After 3 hours and many measurements, we had everything spaced out how we wanted it.  Can't wait until the frames hold real pictures of our baby girl!  Now I feel like we have a good start on the nursery and I can relax for a little while.

It's a Girl !?!

During my Spring Break in March, my Mom, Scott and I went in for an ultrasound at 17 weeks to find out the sex of our little one.  We just knew this was only going to be confirmation that it was a boy.  Scott and I were both sure that "he" would play baseball for A&M and many things had been already picked out for the nursery.  When our ultrasound tech asked "Do you want to know the sex?"  We both replied "YES!!! But we already know it is a boy."  She then informed us that we were wrong and it is most definitely a girl.  After the first few seconds of initial shock, we started to get very excited about the thought of having a baby girl (afterall, I come from a family that does not want any stinkin' boys!)  The ultrasound also showed that most importantly she is healthy and everything is how it's supposed to be.  Later that day, we purchased our crib and dresser for the nursery I cannot wait to start decorating.  Being the planners that we both our, we had a boy and girl name already picked out.  So, immediately we started calling her Sophia Kathryn (which I'm sure she preferred over Jake!)
