Sophia's First Thanksgiving!

Sophia had her first Thanksgiving at my parents house and it was filled with food and excitement.  Things are certainly different when you add kids to the holidays! We had so much fun spending time with family and are so thankful for our special little girl:)

The Zipps family:)

Avery did not know what to think of Sophia-but they sure looked cute in their matching dresses!

3 Months Already!

Sophia turned 3 months yesterday and it has been an exciting month!   A few things that have been happening are: she is really happy going to the nursery at our church in the mornings while Mommy gets to workout, she is rolling over, she loves to put her hands in her mouth, she holds her head up on her own and sits on the couch by herself, she would rather stand up than lay down, and she talks a lot.  This month has been so much fun to see Sophia's personality and watch her grow.  She is very active and needs to be entertained all the time(which make Mom very tired at the end of the day!)
Sleeping-She was sleeping 8 hours straight for about a week and then she decided she only wanted to sleep usually about 6 hours before needing a snack.  We put Sophia down at 9pm and she typically wakes up around 3 to eat, sleeps 4-7, and then 7:30-9:30.  I am still a happy Momma because she is such a good sleeper and happy in her crib.
Eating-Sophia has definitely decreased her milk intake lately.  When she wakes up around 9:30, Mom eats breakfast and we hang out on the couch for an hour before she is ready to eat.  It is so nice to have a baby that is not hungry all the time!
Playing-Sophia loves to practice standing and is so proud of herself when she does!  I just love the huge smile on her face everytime I help her stand up:)  She still loves to read, but only if the book lights up.  She really likes lights, so anything that lights up is fun for her.  Her tummy time has gotten really good.  When I am ready to cook dinner, I put her on her tummy and she watches the moving fish in an aquarium toy we have.  It usually gives me about 10 minutes to get dinner started!  She also loves watching football, even when the Aggies are losing(which they did a lot of this year!)

Church Nursery

Last Sunday we tried taking Sophia to our Sunday school class that meets before church service.  She was asleep in the stroller and as soon as the lesson started, she was all smiles and giggles!  It was adorable to me, but I'm sure a little distracting to those around us.  So, I spent the rest of the time outside playing with Miss Sophia while Scott listened.  We decided that if it was going to be worth while to go to church, we had to put Sophia in the nursery.  Today was the first time to put her in the nursery and I was very anxious about it.  The entire time I was worrying  about her and couldn't get back to her fast enough.  Of course, she slept most of the time in a swing and was fine without me for an hour.  Hopefully this will get easier the more I practice:)

Good Morning!

Sophia has started to sleep in her own room and on the second night she slept from 9pm-5am and then 6am-8:30am!!! I was so proud of her and this is how she acted when she woke up.

I absolutely love these moments and don't want them to ever end.

Happy 2 Months!

This past Friday, Sophia turned 2 months.  She has grown up so much this month, it is truly amazing.  At her 2 month check up, her weight almost doubled to 13lbs 7oz(95 percentile) and her length is 23 inches.  Needless to say, the pictures speak for themselves.  She has grown out of 0-3 month clothing and her cheeks get bigger every day!  She has also really started noticing things around us and even enjoys watching TV with us (although I'm not sure what she actually sees!)

Here's what has been going on this month:
Sleeping-Her sleeping is still really good, she sleeps between 5-8 hours and eats, and then sleeps another 2-4 hours.   I am a happy momma!
Eating-I still let Sophia tell me when she is hungry, so we are not really on a schedule yet.  This has worked out best for us because she is really flexible when we want to go places.
Play time-Sophia has an interactive book that tells stories and she loves it.  We read every day and she enjoys every minute of it.
Work time-Sophia has gotten really good at tummy time and now she is determined to sit up and hold her head up on her own.  Every day I pull her up by the hands and let her hold her head up on her own.  She really enjoys this and I feel that she loves a challenge(She takes after her mother!)  I'm sure she will be crawling in no time!
Story time!

Listening very carefully:)

I love this part!

Loving my play mat!
Bed time:)
 Trying out my pretty bows!

This month has brought so many changes, I cannot imagine what is to come.  I absolutely love every second of being a mother and I feel so blessed to have a daughter like Sophia.

Our First Road Trip

Scott had a week of vacation at the end of October so we decided to take Sophia on her first road trip!  First stop-Corpus Christi to visit Sophia's great grandmother Meme and Uncle Stan.  Sophia was so good in the car, we stopped half way to let her eat, change her diaper and stretch.  She made the 4 hour trip like a champ and I was so proud of her.  We stayed at Scott's Uncle Stan's house and had dinner the first night we got there.  Sophia slept great in her pack and play for 8 straight hours!  When she woke up, it was her 2 month birthday and she found a new toy she loved to watch-a really cool fan that was in our bedroom.
The REALLY cool fan

The next morning we were off to see Meme, who turned 91 this year and is such an inspiration to me and will be some day to Sophia.  Meme held Sophia and she was so happy sleeping in her arms.
I thought this position looked a bit uncomfortable, but Sophia was perfectly content sleeping like this for at least 20 minutes!

So sweet:)
Meeting for the first time!

We enjoyed lunch that afternoon and catching up.  There is nothing like good family time!

After spending two nights in Corpus, we headed home for one night to do laundry, repack and regroup (there is nothing like traveling with a baby.  We did not have an inch of free space in the car!) Next stop-our beach house for another two nights.  The weather was fabulous so we enjoyed some relaxing time at the beach.  While we were there, it was Sophia's first Halloween.  There was no trick or treating this year, but we look forward to lots of candy next year!
