11-12-13!!!

My due date was Monday, November 11, and much to my dismay, I went in for my check-up, still 4 cm dilated and not going into labor.  We scheduled my induction for that Thursday and I went home knowing that we were not going to meet our little girl until then.  Early the next morning, around 2am, I woke up to use the restroom and noticed that I was having contractions that were close together.  I decided to stay up for a little bit and time them, but I was not getting my hopes up because I had done this so many times already.  For the next two hours the contractions kept coming 6-8 minutes apart and they were getting stronger.  I finally woke Scott up thinking this may actually be the real deal.  We called the Doctor around 5am and she said to come to the hospital, so I called my Mom to come to our house and stay with Sophia.  By 6am, I was showered, packed, and ready to deliver this baby!  We arrived at the hospital at 6:30 on the special date of 11-12-13 and Savannah Elizabeth was born at 10:37 am after pushing for only 2 contractions.  She weighed 7lbs 9oz, was 19.5 in long, and absolutely perfect.
Such a sweet girl:)

Can't believe I'm holding her!

Finally a family of four!

The holidays are going to be so special with Savannah finally here!  I feel so blessed that I am a Mom to two healthy, beautiful girls:)

My Little Lady Bug!

Scott and I really thought(and hoped) that this Halloween we would be in the hospital having a baby and Sophia would not get to go trick-or-treating this year.  But, our little Savannah had other plans and we dressed Sophia up as a lady bug to go try trick or treating for the first time.  I handed out candy while Scott took Sophia around the neighborhood.  I was a little worried that Sophia would be a little shy going up to stranger's doors, but it turned out that she loved it and didn't want to stop!

Sophia's 2 Year Check-Up

Last week, Sophia went to our pediatrician for her 2 year check-up.  She did great, and is really observant during doctor's appointments, especially since I have been going so often for pregnancy check-ups.  Her measurements are still top of the charts at: Height-35.5 inches (88%) and weight is 30.5 pounds (87%).

Currently she can:
  • Sing her ABC's
  • Knows her colors
  • Can put on her own pants and shoes
  • Sleeps in a "Big Girl" bed

Some of her Favorites:
  • Her cousin, Avery
  • Fruit Snacks
  • My Little Pony-watching and coloring
  • Movie-The Lorax
  • Reading any and all books
  • Animals-especially dogs

Sophia Turns Two!

This past weekend we celebrated Sophia's 2nd Birthday with an ice cream party.  Since I am eight months pregnant, I wanted to do something easy at the house for her big day, and everyone seemed to have a great time!  I'm pretty sure this was Sophia's favorite day so far, she never stopped smiling until she finally went to bed that night.  We had a great group of family and friends celebrate with us and Sophia was spoiled with so many great gifts.

The past two years with Sophia have been so special and I know my future as her Mom will be filled with joy and blessings.  I'm so lucky to have such a special daughter and she makes me so proud to be her Mom!

4th of July

Since Scott is no longer a first year fellow, he has all holidays off!  It is so awesome to know that we will get to celebrate these special times with family.  This Fourth of July, we celebrated with my family at their church, Faithbridge.  They host an amazing free night of food, entertainment, and fireworks.  It was Sophia's first time seeing fireworks and she had a great time.

Summer Fun

Summer is here and it is HOT!  We have been doing a lot of pool days in the backyard and Sophi loves it.  We have also learned that Faith loves pool days as well!  Scott had a few more days of vacation left in his first year of fellowship, so we made a day trip to Galveston and had a great time.  Sophia loves the water and making sandcastles!

Lanbur Keep the Faith

Since I am unable to ride horses until Scott is finished with his fellowship, I was looking for a hobby to keep me busy.  My friend Erica shows and breeds chocolate labs and I decided I wanted to do the same with Beagles.  Even though we have a beagle, Sydney, I don't know much about the breed other than they are great family pets.  I did some research online and looked for a breeder with puppies due this spring/summer.  This proved to be more difficult than I had imagined.  I found a great breeder in Florida, but her puppies due in May were all sold, then I found another top breeder who had 2 litters of puppies due in June.  I got on their wait list and then found out that BOTH were false pregnancies! That breeder recommended the breeder, Jon Woodring, that I finally got a show quality female from.  He was located in North Carolina, and she would be ready to go home in April.  Thankfully, my Mom decided to fly with me and Melanie watched Sophia for the day.  The trip went great and I was so happy to finally meet Faith after working so hard to find her!

It's been a long time since we have had a puppy (8 years to be exact!) and they are a ton of work, but I am so excited about showing this sweet puppy next year and then breeding her after that.
