4th of July

Since Scott is no longer a first year fellow, he has all holidays off!  It is so awesome to know that we will get to celebrate these special times with family.  This Fourth of July, we celebrated with my family at their church, Faithbridge.  They host an amazing free night of food, entertainment, and fireworks.  It was Sophia's first time seeing fireworks and she had a great time.

Summer Fun

Summer is here and it is HOT!  We have been doing a lot of pool days in the backyard and Sophi loves it.  We have also learned that Faith loves pool days as well!  Scott had a few more days of vacation left in his first year of fellowship, so we made a day trip to Galveston and had a great time.  Sophia loves the water and making sandcastles!

Since I am unable to ride horses until Scott is finished with his fellowship, I was looking for a hobby to keep me busy.  My friend Erica shows and breeds chocolate labs and I decided I wanted to do the same with Beagles.  Even though we have a beagle, Sydney, I don't know much about the breed other than they are great family pets.  I did some research online and looked for a breeder with puppies due this spring/summer.  This proved to be more difficult than I had imagined.  I found a great breeder in Florida, but her puppies due in May were all sold, then I found another top breeder who had 2 litters of puppies due in June.  I got on their wait list and then found out that BOTH were false pregnancies! That breeder recommended the breeder, Jon Woodring, that I finally got a show quality female from.  He was located in North Carolina, and she would be ready to go home in April.  Thankfully, my Mom decided to fly with me and Melanie watched Sophia for the day.  The trip went great and I was so happy to finally meet Faith after working so hard to find her!

It's been a long time since we have had a puppy (8 years to be exact!) and they are a ton of work, but I am so excited about showing this sweet puppy next year and then breeding her after that.

Costa Rica is a No-Go

In February, Scott & I decided to go on an all-inclusive vacation before we started thinking about having another baby.  We have heard amazing things about Costa Rica, and we found the perfect all-inclusive resort right on the beach with direct flights from Houston-it was PERFECT!  We booked our flights and made hotel reservations and could not wait until April when we would be going.  But...God had other plans for us!  We found out at the end of February that I was already PREGNANT!  Since pregnancy brings such a long list of can't do's, we decided to postpone the trip until next year when I could fully enjoy our first all-inclusive vacation.  We are very excited to learn that we are expecting another baby girl in early November.  We are naming her Savannah Elizabeth and Sophia can't wait to have a little sister around.  Melanie is also due with her second girl only 2 months ahead of me so it is going to be a very busy holiday season!

Spring Time

This spring has been so incredibly busy.  Scott has been finishing up his first year as a Cardiology fellow, I've been decorating our new house and making it into a home, and Sophia has been growing up into a very busy little girl.  We had an amazing spring with beautiful, cool weather, so we took advantage of this and did as much activities as we could outside.  We made several trips to the zoo, visited the Aquarium, as well as the butterfly exhibit at the Houston Museum.  We are also enjoying having a big backyard for Sophia and Sydney to play in.  I am still working at First Baptist Church of Houston in the Mother's Day Out program on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Sophia loves going and playing with her friends (the extra money has been a huge blessing with the decorating I have done!).  Melanie moved into a new house in the Woodlands the same time we did, and we celebrated Easter there.  We had such a great time getting together with family and I think Sophia even hunted the most eggs!
