Waving!!!

Sophia has learned a new "trick"!!!  She has started to wave at people (or Sydney, our dog) and even sometimes there is a "Hi" sound.  She does it all the time at home and she is hit or miss when we are out.  I love seeing her learn new things and I am so amazed how smart she is.  This was her waving earlier today:)

Month Six-Half Way There!!!

It is hard for me to believe that Sophia is half way to her 1st Birthday!  I'm not going to lie, I have already started planning:) Each day is such a blessing with Sophia.  I'm so happy to get to spend everyday with her and she is so much fun to play with these days.  This month went by so quickly and there were not too many changes.  At her 6 month check up her weight was 19 pounds 9 ounces (95th percentile) and her height was 27 inches (90th percentile).  I love having a big, healthy baby!  This is what has been going on this month:
Eating: She is still eating 2 servings of solids each day and formula.   Sophia has done really well adjusting to formula as I am no longer breast feeding and enjoying every minute of freedom!!! She also is using a sippy cup with water for the first time this month.
Sleeping: Still sleeping 11-12 hours a night.  Usually we put her down at 8 and she wakes up around 7:30.  She also is great at taking her naps from noon to 2 every day.
Playing:  This month has been a very active month.  Sophia is not crawling yet, but that does not stop her from moving all over the place!  She rolls and slides everywhere and I know it is not long before she figures out the crawling thing.  It is a good thing we already have those baby gates installed!  She also is telling us how much fun she is having with really big laughs that I cannot get enough of.  Some things that make her laugh real hard are: when Hannah(my mom's dog) throws a shoe up in the air, when cousin Avery puts stickers on me, and when mom tickles my belly.

Sophia's first Valentine's Day!

Loving the roses Mommy got for Valentine's day

Loves her rubber duckies

Bath time is so much fun!

Feeding Caleb (my mom's horse) carrots

She is not scared of horses whatsoever-I'm so proud:)

Morning playtime

Drinking like a big girl from my sippy cup!
This is the really big laugh I was talking about.  Hannah is playing with my mom's shoe and Sophia thinks it is hilarious!
What a fun month and I know it is only going to get better.  I'm such a proud and happy mom to my amazing baby girl!

Las Vegas!

Scott had a random week of vacation at the end of February so we decided to finally travel somewhere we had never been.  We chose Las Vegas because airfare and hotels are so reasonable and we got a deal we could not pass up staying at the MGM Grand Hotel.  We were gone for 3 nights and I missed Sophia more than I ever expected.  I have decided that for now I am not leaving her for more than 2 nights, and really all I need is a nice long dinner away from her and I am good!  Las Vegas was quite an experience, to say the least.  There is so much to do and see, but I feel we gave it our best shot in the few days we had there.  It was not exactly the most relaxing vacation I have ever done(you do soooo much walking) but I am glad that I finally was able to see all the sights that I have heard about.  The highlights of the trip were:
Seeing Cirque de Soleil's KA-BEST SHOW EVER!
Enjoying two fancy dinners minus Miss Sophia
Sleeping in as long as we wanted
Spending quality time with just Scott and I

We are here!!!

Our beautiful hotel room-they just renovated all the rooms:)

The lobby of MGM

First night eating at Fiamma before the show-so yummy!

It worked out great that the show was in our hotel-there was so much to do you didn't need to leave!

If only I was a millionaire-I could have done some serious shopping at the Forum Shops!

Caesar's Palace was one of my favorite hotels

One of many water falls inside Caesar's Palace

The Forum Shops inside

The atrium inside the Mirage-another favorite hotel of mine:)

Gondola rides at the Venetian

Inside the Venetian

I took this picture after we were waiting awhile for people to walk by and Scott's face cracks me up!

Our enormous hotel

Inside the aquarium at Mandalay Bay

Our last dinner was at Olives in the Bellagio-this was in the lobby and I loved this hotel:)

Our last night dinner just before we watched the Bellagio fountains outside!

The Eiffel tower at Paris

Vegas was fun but it sure made me realize how different your life is with kids.  My next vacation will be on a beach doing absolutely nothing with Sophia close by!

My oh my-month five!!!

Sitting pretty..for now:)

Reaching for her feet...

She got them!!!
My little Sophia is now FIVE months old, and she is not little any more!  She has grown up so much this month and I am loving every second of it.  I literally could play with her all day long-and some days I do!  She is so engaged and interested in everything and I love watching her learn new things.
Here's what she has been up to this month:
Eating: Sophia is now eating 2 servings of solids every day.  She gets oatmeal when she wakes up from her nap (usually around 2pm) and a fruit or veggie around 5pm.  She loves eating her big girl food and seems to like everything I have given her so far-not a big surprise since we know she LOVES her food:) This month, she has eaten pears, apples, sweet potatoes, green beans, and oatmeal.  She has definitely slowed down her milk intake and can go much longer between meals.  She is drinking about 30 oz each day.
Sleeping: No news here.  She is still sleeping about 12 hours each night.  She goes down around 7:30 and is up at 8am.  She naps around 11am for a couple of hours.  I am loving not swaddling her any more and she sleeps on her tummy the entire night.
Playing:  This has been a big month for playing.  She loves playing in her bouncy chair-which is great for me because it allows me some free time.  She has a new best friend-our Beagle, Sydney.  I am so appreciative of Sydney now because Sophia will watch Sydney and be entertained for quite a while.  She is so cute reaching out to touch her and Sydney is a great sport(and I'm sure loving the extra attention).  She has also started sitting on her own(with me close by).  She has been especially excited this month-I'm pretty sure she is the happiest baby I have ever seen!  She is always smiling and laughing and I would love to know what goes on in their heads! I'm also pretty sure she is teething because she is drooling everywhere and chewing on everything.  I can't wait to see a tooth popping out!
Her favorite bouncy chair:)

In just a few weeks, my little girl will be half way through her first year!  I cannot believe how fast she is growing up and I am already starting to think about her first birthday party.  I try to tell myself each day to enjoy our moments together because the days go by too quickly.  Thankfully, I am able to be with Sophia all day long and I am so blessed to be able to experience all of her "firsts" with her.
